A man who has been charged with kidnapping a student while she waited at a bus stop had been looking at forum called 'Abduction 101', just weeks before the woman disappeared FBI have said.

Twenty-seven-year-old Brendt Christensen was arrested on Friday by police investigating the disappearance of Chinese student Yingying Zhang, who was visiting the University of Illinois.

The car lead detectives to Christensen, who is also a student, and he was arrested in connection with the disappearance.

When officers checked Christensen's phone they found that he had visited a forum called Abduction 101, on April 19, according to court documents seen by Buzzfeed.

Christensen was part of a social networking site called FetLife, which is used by the 'BDSM, fetish and kinky community', he had also visited threads called 'perfection abduction fantasy' and 'planning a kidnapping' the Mirror reports.

Prosecutors have said in a statement that based on the suspect's boasting about the kidnap and, 'other facts uncovered during the investigation of this matter, law enforcement agents believe that Ms. Zhang is no longer alive'.

Yingying had only arrived at the university in April.

In a letter to his staff, the University of Illinoise Chancellor Robert Jones said: "There are no words that can explain why or how such a terrible thing should happen nor is there anything I might say that will ease the grief of any of you who knew her.

"I ask all of you to help to ensure that Yingying is remembered for her kindness, her gentleness and her smile."
