A man who vandalised a mosque and left a raw slab of bacon on its doorstep has been handed to 15 years in prison.

CCTV showed Wolfe breaking windows, cameras and lights with a machete at the mosque in Titusville, Florida, near Cape Canaveral.

Muslims are prohibited from consuming pork products and it has been used by bigots to desecrate US mosques.
"The Florida Muslim Community is suffering an unprecedented number of hate crimes," Florida Council On American Islamic Relations spokesman Wilfredo Ruiz said in a statement issued on Wednesday.

"Multiple mosques and Islamic institutions have been broken into, vandalized, and even set on fire."

According to Brevard County records, Wolfe has had multiple run-ins with the police, including convictions in burglary of an unoccupied dwelling and grand theft in 2004.
He has the option of filing an appeal within 30 days of his conviction.
