Five people are dead after a shooting at a warehouse in Orlando, Florida, according to authorities.

Police also confirmed the 45-year-old gunman was amongst the dead, after turning the gun on himself.

Four people died at the scene and another died at hospital, Sheriff Demings from the Orange County Sherrif's office said.

In a tweet sent by Orange County Sheriff's Office at 9.21am, authorities announced there had been multiple fatalities, but the situation had been 'stabilised'.

It was confirmed the shooter was not on the loose but was not initially announced if they were dead or in police custody.

Sources told News 6 the shooter was a disgruntled employee, which was then confirmed by Sheriff Demings.

Shelly Adams told News 6, her sister, Shelia McIntyre, was in the bathroom when she heard gunshots. She said her sister and others at the scene were taken to a safe place nearby.

According to Adams, her sister repeatedly said: "My boss is dead. My boss is dead."
