It's not yet known how far the missile went or if it flew over Japan, as several missiles launched earlier this year did.
The missile is reported to have been launched from Pyongsong, according to a statement released by South Korean military chiefs.
The country has launched a number of
missiles in recent months, as well as making threats to both the US and Japan.
It also tested a hydrogen bomb for the first time.
