Paul Chuckle has had to deny that he has died, in the wake of confusion online after his brother Jimmy was confirmed to have passed away this week.

The 71-year-old, real name Paul Elliott, had to quickly correct people who sent messages on social media, thinking they were commemorating the younger Chuckle Brother's death.

Paul replied to say that he's 'alive and kicking', rectifying misconceptions.

Paul explained that he thought it may have been the media's wording that caused the confusion.

Many fans had posted their condolences as a result of the confusion, with one fan writing: "Bro how was I planning today to see Paul Chuckle in Sheff next month n he's just DIED. RIP Paulio."

The sad news came less than 12 months after Paul's other brother Barry died, and on Friday it was confirmed that 87-year-old Jimmy had passed away from bone cancer.

Jimmy Elliott made regular appearances on the Chuckle Brothers' TV show, Chucklevision, alongside Paul and Barry.

The actor was one half of the Patton Brothers, a comedy double act who first began performing together in 1954, alongside his brother Brian. They appeared in various episodes of their younger siblings' popular children's show between 1990 and 2009.

The news was shared on a Facebook page dedicated to the comedy duo.

A statement on a post read: "I just thought I'd let you know that the Chuckle Brothers' older brother Jimmy Patton has sadly passed away.

"Jimmy was a big part of ChuckleVision and the stage shows where he played the character No Slacking. RIP Jim Lad. And No Slacking."

Back in 2017 Jimmy made headlines when he tied the knot with 26-year-old fan Amy Phillips after meeting her on Facebook following the death of his wife Valerie.

When the pair wed, Amy's mum Mary said that their 59 year age gap 'doesn't bother them or us at all', adding: "Amy is happy and so are we. We are delighted and very proud. Bobby Dennis the comedian came and so did Bernie Clifton. They are Jimmy's mates and they both did speeches, they had everyone in fits of laughter."

RIP Jimmy.
