Piers Morgan Goes In On National Rifle Association Supporter

Loads of people have been agreeing with Piers Morgan - guess there's a first for everything, eh?

US doctors are hitting back at the National Rifle Assocation (NRA) after it told them not to get involved in the fight for gun control.

This in turn was a response to doctors sharing photos of shooting victims' blood-stained clothes - with the NRA having said medics should 'stay in their own lane'.

Good Morning Britain invited Dr Joseph Sakran onto the show to discuss his role in founding the #ThisIsOurLane campaign, also welcoming back NRA supporter Dan Roberts (yep, the one Sacha Baron Cohen tricked into putting a dildo in his mouth) to hear his side of the story.

Presenter Piers Morgan asked Roberts: "Universal background checks for everyone who owns a gun - what's your objection?"

Referring to the NRA as an 'easy scapegoat' for wider, 'more difficult' issues, Roberts said: "Universal background checks will not work for their stated purpose unless they are tied to a national firearms registry system, which is against federal law and the Supreme Court rules.

Morgan then made the question simpler, asking: "Do you personally believe that everyone in America wishing to buy a firearm should be subjected to a background check, yes or no?"

After a bit of an awkward pause, he shrugged and replied: "Sure."

Morgan then asked Roberts if he thought doctors should advise patients on safe child-proof storage of guns in the home.

Not missing a beat, Roberts replied: "No."

Pressed for more detail, he added: "What qualifications and what specific training have doctors gone through to be considered experts on the subject?"

Morgan hit back: "I would say it actually means that doctors who have to patch up the bodies of people who've been obliterated by gunfire probably are quite expert in the damage that gunfire can cause to human bodies, yes."

Many viewers sided with Morgan, with one tweeting: "Maybe Dan should go on the front line with the doctors and see first hand the consequences of lack of gun control then he can voice his opinion. Silly man."

Another added: "Get Dan into an emergency room for a week stood next to these surgeons and doctors, that should change his views."

Someone else said: "I could tell which man was which before they introduced them. Dan looked a mess and couldn't answer any question in an intelligent or informed way. Laughable. The doctor enjoyed watching him squirm lol."

A fourth wrote: "For once - Piers is justified in his belligerent arguing for the sake of it. The NRA guy didn't stand a chance!"

Loads of people agreeing with ol' Piers? Who'd have thought it...
