Police Identify Walmart Where Woman Licked Ice Cream In Viral Video

When will people learn, eh? If you really can't resist taking the lid off a tub of ice cream and licking it, don't put it back on the shelf afterwards.

... Also, if you can't resist taking the lid of a tub of ice cream and licking it, definitely don't film it and share it on social media.

One woman in the US inadvertently went viral earlier this week for doing just that and now police have identified the store where the disgusting prank took place.

It turns out the licking went down in a Walmart in Lufkin, Texas, and the store has now removed all Tin Roof half gallons of ice cream from its shelves.

Lufkin Police said: "At 1.10pm today, Blue Bell contacted us, saying that they believed the viral video took place in the Lufkin Walmart store and that they had retrieved what they believed to be the tainted container of ice cream.

"By 4pm, detectives had obtained surveillance video placing a woman matching the suspect description in the Lufkin store on 28 June around 11 pm."

The force said that once they have verified the woman's identity they will charge her with a second degree felony.

They said: "Our detectives are working to confirm the identity of the female suspect seen in a viral video of her licking a half-gallon of Blue Bell Tin Roof ice cream in a Lufkin Walmart store around 11 pm 28 June.

"Once her identity is verified, detectives will proceed with getting a warrant for her arrest on a charge of second-degree felony tampering with a consumer product.

"As that portion of the investigation continues, detectives are focusing on identifying the male (in the green shirt) behind the camera seen in images of the two entering the store together.

"Detectives will continue to work through the holiday on this case."

Blue Bell Creameries has also condemned the food tampering and said all of the Tin Roof half gallons of ice cream have been removed from the store 'out of an abundance of caution'... presumably because they can't be 100 per cent sure which was licked - I don't think they're insinuating that she might have licked all of them.

A statement read: "We have identified a Walmart in Lufkin, Texas, as the store where the malicious act of food tampering took place.

"Our staff recognised the location in the video, and we inspected the freezer case. We found a Tin Roof half gallon that appears to have been compromised.

"Based on security footage, the location and the inspection of the carton, we believe we may have recovered the half gallon that was tampered with. Out of an abundance of caution, we have also removed all Tin Roof half gallons from that location.

"The Lufkin Police Department has been notified and is taking over the investigation.

"The safety of our ice cream is our highest priority, and we work hard to maintain the highest level of confidence of our customers. Food tampering is not a joke, and we will not tolerate tampering with our products. We are grateful to the customers who alerted us and provided us with information."
