​Pornhub Is Looking To Buy Tumblr And Revoke Its Adult Content Ban

Pornhub bosses have said they're interested in acquiring blogging site Tumblr, following news that owner Verizon is looking to sell it.

Tumblr introduced a ban on adult content last December, despite the fact the platform was widely praised as being something of a safe haven for more marginalised sexual sub-groups.

But Pornhub Vice President Corey Price told BuzzFeed News that the porn-streaming site is interested in buying Tumblr with a view to revoking the ban.

"Tumblr was a safe haven for those who wanted to explore and express their sexuality, adult entertainment aficionados included," he said.

"We've long been dismayed that such measures were taken to eradicate erotic communities on the platform, leaving many individuals without an asylum through which they could comfortably peruse adult content."

When Tumblr announced its ban on adult content, which was enforced on 17 December last year, Pornhub welcomed the ostracised communities 'with open arms', urging them to join its porn-streaming service instead.

A post on Tumblr's FAQs section explains: "Adult content is not allowed on Tumblr, regardless of how old you are. You can read more about what kinds of content are not allowed on Tumblr in our Community Guidelines.

"If you spot a post that you don't think belongs on Tumblr, period, you can report it: From the dashboard or in search results, tap or click the share menu (paper airplane) at the bottom of the post, and hit 'Report'."

However, if Pornhub acquires Tumblr, it would be looking to reverse last year's ban.

"There are obvious synergies between the two brands and value Pornhub could derive from Tumblr," Price continued.

"We're extremely interested in acquiring the platform and are very much looking forward to one day restoring it to its former glory with NSFW content."

One person, who is in favour of the idea, tweeted: "Seems like Tumblr lost the battle. What the fuck were you expecting? You got rid of 80% of your public. It'll be interesting if Pornhub actually buys Tumblr."

Another wrote: "Let's cross our fingers that this happens...."

A third said: "Prayin pornhub buys tumblr."
