A Russian doctor and Instagram travel blogger has been found dead in her apartment with her throat slit and her body stuffed into a suitcase.
Twenty-four-year-old Ekaterina Karaglanova, who had built an Instagram following of more than 85,000 people, was discovered dead after her parents asked became concerned that she had stopped answering her phone, according to local reports.
They asked her landlord to open the door of her apartment and found her dead, wearing only a pair of lace garters.
CCTV footage of her flat shows a suspect wearing a cap entering the apartment building carrying a plastic bag. He can then be seen leaving the building four hours later carrying a suitcase.
There are suspicions that he removed her blood-stained clothes after using a weapon to slit her throat and stab her twice in the chest.
Police suspect that the man in the footage could be a 'jealous former lover'.
The man can be seen wearing gloves, despite the fact that it was 27C in Moscow on Friday. Karaglanova's flat was spotlessly clean with no traces of blood when detectives arrived at the scene.
Police also suspect that the murder had been meticulously planned as there was no evidence of a struggle.
Karaglanova had recently started working as a doctor in Moscow after graduating from one of Russia's top medical universities.
Detectives are now seeking details of her private life after claims were made that she had recently started a relationship with a 52-year-old man, following a break-up from a 32-year-old man that she had described as a 'wolf'.
Yulia Ivanova, an official from the Russian Investigative Committee, said that the investigation would attempt to 'establish all the circumstances of the committed crime' and 'detain the person involved in it'.
Ekaterina had been a beauty pageant contestant as well as a graduate from the prestigious Pirogov Russian National Research Medical University.
Her Instagram profile was filled with photographs taken in studios, on trips, or documenting her everyday life.
One of her friends, Marina Nikitina, told local network Ren TV: "Recently I noticed that she had changed a lot. There was information that somebody did not like her.
"She posted, 'Someone is badly interested in my private life.'"
Another police theory suggest that the killer intended to take her body elsewhere in a suitcase, but abandoned the idea so as not to attract suspicion.
The murderer then left with just her bloodstained clothes and the weapon used in the killing.
Police investigations are ongoing.
