Bad news for wankers around the country, as it looks like a huge porn censorship scheme is about to be rolled out in the UK.

The crackdown means all adult content online will be blocked by default and all UK residents will have to sign up to an age-verification program.

That's right, you're soon quite literally going to get ID'ed if you wanna check out Pornhub ever again. That means handing over your credit card or passport details (so basically your search history will automatically stick to your name forever).

The Sun reports that it's up to the UK's film regulator - the BBFC - to decide which websites are considered "smut" and therefore will be put behind the massive censorship firewall, to be launched later this year.

While this is pretty big news, it turns out many Brits are unaware of the new porn policies. A new survey discovered 66 percent of UK adults didn't realise this was even happening in 2018.

The crackdown was supposed to start this April, but has been pushed back to December.

Stuart Lawley, CEO of AVSecure, the company that commissioned the survey, told the Sun: "The delay of the introduction of the Digital Economy Act allows us to ensure there will be a number of different age verification providers for consumers to choose from, and who users decide to go with will affect who has access to their personal data."

Yep - users are definitely not going to want to entrust a dodgy company with the most personal data there is. Unsurprisingly, the move to age verification (namely the sharing of such details) has come under scrutiny.

Lawyer Myles Jackman told the Sun that there are serious dangers: "The big risk is that the data from the user is not held securely, and that their privacy is violated when that data is hacked or breached.

"This is going to impact anyone who, casually or above, uses pornography for recreational purpose. The imposition of age verification poses an enormous risk to your readers, in terms of their personal sexual interests being leaked onto the internet for anyone to see."

Jackman added that if a person's porn history were leaked, there would be risks of blackmail and suicide.
