'Two loud bangs' have been heard at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester this evening.

The incident took place shortly after 22:30 at the Manchester Arena where the American singer was performing.

Greater Manchester Police tweeted that they had been called to a 'serious incident' at the 21,000 capacity arena.

They are urging people to stay away from the area.

Hannah Young told LAdbible: "I was in the upper tier and we heard a big bang, and many got scared. Initially, as there were so many balloons in the arena anyway, we assumed it might be something to do with that.

"We got ushered into a tiny, tiny room and everyone was screaming to let us out. After 10 minutes the stewards and police got us out shouting as us to move as quick as we could.

"Everyone on the street was screaming, crying, and kids were panicking. Ambulance sirens were going."

Sirens can be heard across the city centre, as people are evacuated from the building.

Twitter users were unsure as to what the loud bangs were, but many have told social media that they think it was either a 'gunshot' or a 'bomb'.

Riona wrote: "Just got out of Manchester arena after seeing Ariana perform. There was a loud bang when the lights came on & everyone ran out screaming."

Another added: "There are people that are bleeding, crying, legit injured at Manchester show at the moment. What is happening? I was there. I heard a blast."
