Everyone likes to treat themselves every once in a while - but if you are going to take some 'me-time', the middle of a burglary is probably not the best time to do it.

That's exactly what one thief discovered in Los Angeles, California after he broke into a home business and got arrested because he stopped to watch porn on a computer.

The incident, partially captured on security footage, also showed the man taking a bit of luxurious time to wander around smoking a cigarette and charging his phone. No rush, or anything.

CHECK OUT THE NEWS REPORT BELOW:

The intruder was caught red-handed this past Monday night by Lisa and Steve Mirizzi, who own a hair extension business in the neighbourhood of Van Nuys and live in an apartment upstairs.

It's believed that the man, identified as 28-year-old Alan Estrada, slipped into the business by climbing through an air vent.

"Last night, I came downstairs to make some tea and I saw him at the computer sitting, watching porn," Lisa Mirizzi told local TV station KTLA.

Lisa screamed after seeing the man and her husband and son quickly rushed downstairs, confronting the man and trying to chase him down.

Estrada tried and failed to escape through a padlocked door before the Mirizzis' son Giovanni 'decked him, picked him up and body-slammed him', curtailing Estrada's attempt to make a run for it.

Although Estrada struggled to break free, Los Angeles police were called onto the scene and he was quickly arrested on suspicion of residential burglary.

"It almost felt like a dream because it's like, 'Is this really happening?'" Lisa Mirizzi said.

Surveillance footage taken at the business showed Estrada swiping a 'large' amount of cash and credit cards, smoking, and charging his phone.

He was also spotted sitting in front of the computer and watching porn from a disc that he had brought with him.

Estrada was booked into Van Nuys Jail after 1.30am on Tuesday morning and was being held there without bail.

According to the LA Daily News, Estrada is currently homeless and has a history of prior offenses including grand theft auto and narcotics.

The Mirizzis' stolen cash and credit cards have since been returned, making it easier for the family to 'laugh about it', Steve Mirizzi added.

Let's hope they wiped down the seat Estrada sat on afterwards.
