Think it's been windy over here in the UK recently? Well, you might reassess that once you see the mad footage coming out of the USA recently.

The video in question shows a huge truck being completely knocked over by a powerful gust of wind. It's seriously scary stuff, to be honest.

You see, the USA is currently suffering through what is being called a 'bomb cyclone' by some forecasters. This truck was blown over on a highway near Amarillo, Texas, on Wednesday.

You don't need to be a meteorologist to recognise that it is bloody blowy out there. If it is actually tipping vehicles over, that's when you know that it is getting bad.

In fact, the wind has been blowing up to about 75 miles per hour, and you'd better believe that this truck isn't the only thing feeling the effects.

Several large vehicles were blown over in the affected area, and the extreme weather conditions has seen trees uprooted and chucked into homes and vehicles. Basically, nowhere is safe.

Luckily, there were no other cars on the road nearby to where this truck toppled over on Highway 287 - about 10 miles outside of Amarillo - at about 10:30 on Wednesday morning.

The person who captured this amazing piece of video can be heard shouting: "Oh my God," as the trailer flips over from the force of the wind.

It is lifted high into the air, twisting the driver's cab around in the process. As the situation gets worse, the whole thing goes over and it begins to slide down the road, crashing through a sign in the process.

According to local media reports, the driver was taken to hospital but was not seriously injured. He's been really lucky there, by the looks of things.

Oh dear.

This whole situation has been caused by a rapid drop in pressure in the air. For a 'bomb cyclone' to occur the pressure has to descend around 24 millibars in 24 hours. In this case, it was more like 33 millibars.

It has been affecting a huge part of the USA. Heavy snow, rain, and these high winds have battered much of the country. In Colorado a police officer was killed after being struck by a car whilst helping another driver who had slip from the road.

Basically, it's not great over there right now.

Thousands of people have been left without electricity, schools have been closed, and travellers have been stranded. It sucks, in short.

Let's hope that everyone stays safe out there.
