The secret to being a successful criminal is not getting caught. That sounds easy enough, but it's not. One of the key things to remember is that the police aren't exactly dumb.

It is literally their job to catch you if you've broken the law and they have a whole load of technology and expertise to do exactly that.

With that in mind, it's always a good idea not to directly taunt them and goad them if you're trying to get away with something. That's exactly what one guy from Manchester has done recently.

Jake Vesey was the subject of a Facebook post by the Greater Manchester Police in Wythenshawe that called for his capture following his breach of license.

He was recalled to prison following breaking the terms of his license after a robbery.

Jake then took to the comments section of the post calling for his arrest taunting the coppers by using the hashtag "#catchmeifyoucan".

I mean, you've got to hand it to him, the guy is confident.

It also takes some stones to deliberately goad the guys who are trying to catch you and lock you up.

He'll look (and presumably feel) a bit silly if they eventually do catch him. You can bet that there will be a police social media guy just waiting to respond to his comment with a well-aimed return jibe.

The original post read: "Police are searching for a wanted man from South Manchester.

"Jake Vesey (07/07/1992) who is from the Brooklands area is wanted on recall to prison after breaching the terms of his licence for a robbery.

"Vesey is also wanted in connection with the theft of a vehicle in South Manchester in July 2018.

"All efforts to trace Vesey so far have proved unsuccessful and officers are appealing for the public's help to trace him.

"He is known to have links with the South Manchester and Salford area, and anyone with information should contact police on 101 at the earliest possible opportunity.

"Reports can also be made anonymously through the independent charity Crime stoppers on 0800 555 111."

Well, at the minute he's one step ahead of them, but it's always a dangerous game trying to outwit people who are professional investigators.

Vesey might be over-confident now, but let's see if he's still so keen to wind up the authorities once they've finished their search. He probably won't be able to taunt them on Facebook from inside a prison cell.
