Will Smith Confirms A 'Suicide Squad' Deadshot Spin-Off Movie Is Being Discussed

Just when you thought there weren't enough superhero films planned, released, or 'in production', another one could be in the pipeline.

And for fans of the DC universe, but more specificallyWill Smith, this will be music to your ears.

The Fresh Prince has teased fans with the possibility of reprising his role of Deadshot, from the 2016 anti-hero film, Suicide Squad.

The original film - which boasted a star-studded lineup including Jared Leto as the Joker and Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn - divided opinion but still proved a hit at the box office.

Despite the poor reviews, the Men in Black star remains a massive pull for audiences thanks to his army of fans around the world.

So when Smith, who celebrated his 50th birthday on Tuesday, took to his YouTube channel to answer questions, his fans didn't waste the opportunity to ask whether there was any truth in rumours of a spin-off for his murderous sniper.

And though it wasn't a definite answer, the Hollywood A-lister gave his fans a glimmer of hope as he confirmed that meetings were underway, to create a story for his character.

He said: "I hope so. I love playing Deadshot. I really enjoyed that character. They've been talking about it. So if a good idea comes around, we've been having meetings. But I would love to. I love Deadshot."

But before work even begins on a Deadshot film Smith has a busy few months ahead, with more films in the pipeline than you can shake a stick at.

He is lined up to star in the upcoming live-action remake of Aladdin and Ang Lee's sci-fi thriller Gemini Man, alongside Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Clive Owen, while early production has already begun on Suicide Squad 2.

And don't even get us started on the on-again-off-again finale to the much-loved Bad Boys series.

But it's not just movies keeping Smith busy - he recently joked about running for president, and in a world where a TV personality can become the leader of the free world, perhaps this idea isn't such a stretch after all.

If Deadshot doesn't come together though, fear not - with Todd Philips' Joker, as well as Aquaman and Wonder Woman 1984, there are more - so many more - entries to come in the DC cinematic universe.
