Woman Conned Out Of £11,500 After Thinking Chris Hemsworth Had Fallen For Her

A married mum-of-two has been conned out of £11,500 after web fraudsters tricked her into thinking actor Chris Hemsworth had fallen for her.

The 42-year-old from Irkutsk, Russia, was contacted by a fake social media account in the Australian actor's name and was ultimately convinced to take out a £11,500 loan, The Siberian Times report.

The woman was conned into believing that the money would be used to pay for parking at the local airport for The Avengers star's private jet ahead of a romantic affair.

The woman was reported to be going through problems in her marriage and over a two month period the scammers managed to convince her that Chris Hemsworth was lonely too.

The first message to the woman read as follows: "Hey, I am Chris Hemsworth, I am a famous actor from Australia, I live in California. You are so pretty, can we chat?"

Speaking to a local newspaper, the woman is reported to have said that her own marriage was going downhill at the time when the fraudsters made contact.

She said: "I am not a fan, but he is still a very attractive man.

"I checked him online and saw that he was married and had three children.

"I thought, what if he was in the same situation as I was, that on the face of it we were both married and at the same time very lonely."

From there, the woman was allegedly contacted separately by the actor's 'lawyer', who even sent mock ups of the actor's ID.

An Irkutsk city police source said: "The woman said that she was separately contacted by the actor's lawyer, who told her that 'Chris' was going through temporary financial difficulties.

"He needed money to pay for a visa, insurance and parking for his private jet in Siberia.

"The lawyer asked her to transfer money and sent her Chris's driving license as a guarantee of a pay back."

After the woman sent the money, the fake social media accounts for the actor were deleted.

It is unclear whether the woman's husband is aware of the scam.
