Woman Left With Mouth Stuck Open After Laughing Loudly On Train

Sadly, it is unclear what tickled her so

If you're lucky, then you may have once enjoyed a laugh so monumental, you thought you may never stop laughing again. A laugh so earth-shatteringly enormous you almost lost your mind forever.

One woman in China appears to have had a laugh on this scale - a laugh so powerful it dislocated her jaw.

A woman laughed so hard on a train that she dislocated her jaw.

The laugh in question took place on 1 September on a high-speed train bound for Guangzhou South Railway Station, located in the capital of Guangdong Province in South China. However, the laugh was soon halted when the woman dislocated her jaw, leaving her mouth hanging open.

Fortunately for her, Doctor Luo Wensheng of Liwan Hospital - part of Guangzhou Medical University - had boarded train number G2938 from Kunming, the capital of south-western Yunnan Province, when an urgent appeal for medical assistance was broadcast through the carriages.

He said: "I was resting when I heard an announcement asking whether there were any doctors [onboard]. I rushed over and found the passenger unable to speak or close her mouth.

"She was drooling, so I initially thought she had had a stroke.

"But I took her blood pressure, then asked her some questions, and learned that she had actually dislocated her jaw."

From here, Dr Wensheng was also thrust into an uncomfortable position, with the no-longer-laughing woman now desperate for him to fix her face.

"I warned her that I wasn't an expert, but I knew how to do the procedure. I also told her there was a chance I wouldn't be able to set it," he said.

"The patient was quite nervous and her facial muscles were all very tense, so it failed on the first attempt.

"I advised her to go to a hospital instead, but train staff told us it would be another hour. The passenger became very agitated and wanted her jaw set right away, so I agreed to try again."

We will probably never know what was so funny.

Fortunately, the doc was able to restore the jaw, which had apparently become dislocated in the past as a result of puking.

Dr Wensheng said: "I did it while she was distracted, and luckily it went back in place.

"The passenger revealed that she had dislocated her jaw in the past due to repeatedly vomiting during pregnancy.

"If you've dislocated your jaw in the past, laughing, yawning or even just opening your mouth too wide can lead to it happening again."

Unfortunately, we don't know what gave her such a giggle in the first place. Whatever it was, it's arguably an even funnier memory now... though I suppose the woman herself is probably best placed to be the judge of that.
