The 'friend' who pushed 16-year-old Jordan Holgerson from a 60 foot bridge says she 'feels bad' about the horrific ordeal as prosecutors reveal she may be charged.

Taylor Smith, 18, shoved Jordan off Moulton Falls Bridge in Yacolt, Washington, on August 7, causing her to suffer five broken ribs and a punctured lung.

Now Taylor Smith has told NBC she 'feels really about what happened' and that she has 'apologised several times'. Jordan confirmed she had received a text message apology from her 'pal'.

This comes as the Clark County Sheriff's Office said it has now finished its investigation and has forwarded the case to the prosecutor's office for 'appropriate charging' - according to the MailOnline.

In a statement, the police department, said: "The suspect, 18 year old Taylor Smith, has been cooperating with investigators. The case will be forwarded to the Clark County prosecutors office for appropriate charging."

Days after the incident, Jordan, told KOIN: "In the air I think I might have fainted. But I hit the water I was definitely awake and aware. I couldn't breathe so that was all I was really thinking about.

"I have five broken ribs, there's air bubbles in my chest. I could have died, easily."

Genelle Holgerson, the girl's mother, said that as well as the broken ribs and punctured lung, her daughter also suffered a bruised esophagus, an injured trachea and air bubbles in her chest.

She told Thoroughbred Daily News: "She is lucky she is not paralysed or dead. She is alert but in pain and is very tired. We're lucky she is going to recover and not have permanent injuries."

It is not clear how long Jordan will remain in hospital but she is expecting to be in pain for around six weeks.

The ordeal which was captured on video went viral after the incident took place.

Jordan can be seen with her friends on the ledge of the bridge and as pals start counting down from three, she can be heard saying: "No, I won't go in," another person said: "Well, she's saying no".

Jordan's sister, Kaytlin, said she confronted Taylor on social media. She said: "Friends don't push someone from that high so I was pissed.

"She pretty much said that she was sorry for doing it and she wouldn't have done it if she knew the outcome of it and that she knows it was an absurd thing to do.

"I think the girl that pushed her should have some sort of consequence because you won't learn your lesson if you think you can could do that again and think it will be fine."
