People are in shock after seeing the inside of a new build home left half finished, with footage shared by a leading UK snagging company revealing a number of issues including loose light switches and gas boxes that have not been installed properly. Watch the video here:

The clip was shared on TikTok by New Build Quality Homes, which carries out ‘new build snagging inspections’ in Scotland, England and Wales and describes itself as the ‘UK’s no. 1 snagging company’.

In the footage, a New Build Quality Homes worker walks around a new build site near Edinburgh, which has been constructed by residential property developer and builder Bellway, explaining the various problems around the home.

They say: “This gas box has been installed poorly, we can’t really access the metro and when you open the lid look it damages the rough cast. Shocking.

Various problems were found at the new build site in Edinburgh.

“We should really have a 75mm gap between the air bricks and the ground level, but look at this, it’s a recurring issue.

“We’ve got a poor finish left inside of the patio doors, we’ve got screws missing to the bottom gate hinge, we’ve actually got a broken screw there.

“Right hand side of the ensuite hand basin is smashed up, nice, this light switch is loose, lovely.”

The employee continues: “I’d really like to know if anyone from Bellway is watching, is this the correct finish for under the stairs, because surely you’d finish it with plaster board, no? We’ve got CLS on show that’s just been painted, we can see all the underside of the stairs all the components are showing, I mean really is this the finish for under the stairs?

The client had paid £275,000 for the property that was found to have numerous problems.

“I mean the clients paid just under £275,000 for it, I mean we can see the joists, what’s going on here. We’ve also got fixings missing underneath the stairs, absolutely shocking.”

Many TikTok users commented on the video to express their outrage, with one saying: "Shocking. I would be raging if it was me."

Someone else agreed: "Absolutely shocking," while a third wrote: "You put me off ever being slightly interesting in buying a new build."

A fourth added: "State on that! Id never buy a new house they just get thrown up no respect for the work."

People were stunned by the poor standards of the new build.
