24-year-old Austin Clay was reportedly bailed by James Otis, who did the same thing in 2016.

The man who destroyed Donald Trump's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame has reportedly been bailed out of police custody, by the man who smashed up the President's star the last time it was done.

With all the news coverage that Donald Trump gets these days, it's easy to forget that he was very famous - although admittedly not on an international scale - before he took the office of the President of the United States of America.

But, of course, he was. He was the star of many series of The Apprentice, appeared on numerous TV shows, and was even once on the receiving end of a Stunner from none other than Stone Cold Steve Austin.

Anyway, in his previous life as a reality TV star, he was awarded a star on Hollywood's famous Walk of Fame.

The walk consists of more than 2,600 stars that are imbedded in the floor on Hollywood Boulevard and Vine Street in Los Angeles. Everyone who is anyone has one, and so does The Donald.

Well, not any more he doesn't. Since he became President and started making some, shall we say, controversial decisions, certain folk have decided that a good symbolic gesture would be to go along and wreck it.

This has happened on a couple of occasions, most recently by a man who brought along a pickaxe in a guitar case and really went to town on it.

The man was 24-year-old Austin Clay, and he was arrested after the assault on Trump's bit of pavement. He immediately turned himself over to the police. It has even been reported that he might have called them in the first place.

His bail was set at $20,000, which seems a lot for a felony vandalism charge, but luckily, he had a friend to bail him out - the last guy who brought his construction tools downtown and got stuck into the star.

James Otis, who is the heir to the Otis Elevator Company, did exactly the same thing in 2016. He donned some construction worker's clothes and went to town on Trump's star with a sledgehammer and pickaxe.

He then pleaded no contest to the charges against him in 2017, before he was fined $4,400 and sentenced to 20 days community service.

At the time, Otis gave his reasons for wanting to desecrate the President's star. He said: "The reason I did it was because of the amount of sexual assaults that not only my own family has experienced, but that the many women that Donald Trump has done this to.

"The point of the exercise was to take the star and auction it off on Election Day and distribute that money to the women who'd been sexually assaulted by Mr. Trump."

Knowing Donald Trump, he'll devote at least three secret service goons to guard the star once it has been repaired.
