A company known as the 'Craig's List' of weed is offering free marijuana to government employees unable to pay for their prescription.

The Federal Government in the United States came to a stand still last month with ongoing rows over funding for President Trump's border wall.

The dispute, which apparently is unlikely to be solved soon, has reportedly left around 800,000 staff unpaid.

According to the Hill, online weed outlet BudTrader.com, has said it will donate the legal limit of cannabis to government staff struggling to pay for their medical marijuana.

Posting to its Facebook site, the company said they are making the gesture to help 'ease suffering' of those people unable to pay for their bud.

The post read: "To any Federal Employee unable to pay for their medical cannabis due to the Government shutdown, BudTrader will donate to you the allowable, legal limit according to California adult use rules and regulations to help ease your suffering in this difficult time.

Government staff have not been paid since the shutdown began in December.

"The donation will be completely confidential. For more information please visit BudTrader.com. God Bless all Federal Employees, God Bless the Cannabis Community and God Bless the United States of America."

In a press release, the company's CEO, Brad McLaughlin, said they are making the offer in 'tough times' and want to help those affected.

He said: "I don't think federal employees are getting enough love and support. In these tough times, we want to extend the offer of a donation of medical cannabis to any federal worker affected by the shutdown."

The Senate will vote today on two opposing bills which could potentially see an end to the partial government shutdown, which started on 22 December.

The company making the offer has been called the 'Craig's List' of weed.

According to reports it is the first action taken by the Senate to find a resolution to the shutdown of over the $5billion to help fund Donald Trump's border wall, since it began.

But it's understood that neither will receive the 60 votes they would need, which means there is no end in sight to the shutdown.

Last year Canada voted to legalise the use of marijuana. The Cannabis Act came into effect at the stroke of midnight on 17 October and celebrations swept the nation from time zone to time zone.

Newfoundland was the first province to celebrate the new law, with hundreds gathering outside stores and smoking in the streets.
