Trump Warns North Korea: US Weapons 'Stronger And More Powerful Than Ever'

United States President Donald Trump has vowed his country will remain the 'most powerful nation in the world', adding that the US weapons arsenal is 'stronger and more powerful than ever before', after North Korean claims of nuclear weapon advances.

In a series of tweets he also added that 'hopefully' he won't have to use it, after retweeting an article from Fox News which claimed the US air force jets are ready to 'fight tonight'.

In the article a pilot was quoted as saying: "How we train is how we fight and the more we interface with our allies, the better prepared we are to fight tonight."

This latest flurry of tweets come as tensions between the US and North Korea continue to rise.

The US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson has attempted to calm fears, saying the 'fire and fury' promise gives citizens no need to panic because North Korea is not an 'imminent threat' to the US. He added that the two counties are not about to engage in war.

He told reporters Trump had only spoken such strong words because dictator Kim Jong-un 'doesn't seem to understand diplomatic language'.

On Tuesday North Korea announced it was 'carefully examining' a plan to strike the US Pacific territory of Guam with missiles. According to the Mail Online, a spokesperson for the Korean People's Army said a strike plan could be 'put into practice in a multi-current and consecutive way any moment' whenever ruler Kim makes a decision.
