Nearly £60,000 ($78,000) has been raised for a huge blimp of Sadiq Khan, the Mayor of London, to fly over the capital in a bid to demonstrate protesters' 'unhappiness with him'.

This will come after a similarly enormous balloon representing US President, Donald Trump, wearing a nappy soared above London during his recent trip to the UK.

Now the protesters (on the other side of the spectrum) have plans to hit back, as Sky News reported.

Yanny Bruere - who describes himself as a 'free speech advocate' - has launched a successful campaign to raise money for a 29ft blimp of Mr Khan to hover above Westminster on Saturday (September 1).

The balloon depicts the mayor dressed in a yellow bikini, which is thought to be poking fun at an early decision in which he banned adverts on the Tube showing a woman in a similar swimsuit.

At the moment, £58,342 has been raised by over 3,400 people, which its organiser says is aimed at ensuring the mayor loses his job at the next election in 2020.

The crowd-funding page reads: "In light of the Donald Trump 'Baby Trump' ballon being allowed to fly over London during his visit to the U.K., let's get a 'baby Khan' one and see if FREE SPEECH applies to all and whether or not Mr Khan and the London assembly will also approve this.

"Under Sadiq Khan, we have seen crime sky rocket to unprecedented levels. People in London don't feel safe and they aren't safe, 81 murders this year alone! Khan Out.

"Any surplus money raised will be used for a continuing campaign to remove Sadiq Khan from office and also for defending free speech which is constantly under attack."

An 'update' post reads: "Lets MAKE LONDON SAFE AGAIN and get #KhanOut".

Permission was granted to launch an inflatable balloon depicting Donald Trump as a nappy-clad baby through the skies of Westminster.

Although City Hall originally said no, its decision was reversed following a petition to 'Let Trump baby Fly' which received more than 10,000 signatures.

In an opinion piece written for the Guardian, Leo Murray, the spokesman for the art activists explained how Sadiq Khan's office initially didn't consider the Trump Baby blimp a legitimate form of protest.

Murray wrote: "In order to secure consent to protest in Parliament Square Gardens, you have to apply via the events team at City Hall.

"We already have the public liability insurance required. Khan's officials, however, have insisted that Trump Baby blimp 'is not a protest'. 'A protest is a gathering of people with banners and placards', they say."
