Parents 'blown away' by Ryan Reynolds' incredible gift to son suffering from rare brain disorder

Reynolds made an incredible gesture

The parents of a four-year-old Wrexham fan have been left 'blown away' by an incredible gift given to them by Ryan Reynolds.

Reynolds has owned Wrexham AFC alongside Rob McElhenney since 2020, and when he heard about four-year-old Louis' story, he was quick to help.

Louis was born with a genetic condition called TUBA1A - a rare genetic disorder that can cause developmental delay and altered brain formation.

It causes Louis to have leg spasms, mobility problems, cerebral palsy and epilepsy.

Louis, along with his parents Aaron and Charlotte Perrin, are huge Wrexham supporters, but they were shocked when they spotted a huge donation on their fundraising page.

The family are raising money to adapt their home for their son, with their page explaining: "Our home is becoming more and more unsuitable without being adapted. We cannot borrow the amount of money needed, so we ask for your help to support Just4Children.

"Currently, the need for constant support in the home, has a detrimental effect on Louis's happiness; he is frustrated by his dependence on others; he can not access his bedroom, move around, and play like his brother and friends.

"By helping fund adaptations, you are helping Louis stay in a safe and happy home with our family."

After sharing their page, the family were blown away when they spotted a £10,000 donation by Wrexham AFC.

Aaron, a headteacher, told the PA news agency: "I was at work and was sitting in the staff room and saw I had two missed calls from Charl and then a message from one of my governors saying, 'have you seen this?'

"I couldn't contain it; I just told everyone in work straight away.

"We were all amazed and so pleased and we've had friends ringing and crying on the phone.

"We were totally blown away by their generosity really; we were just in shock."

The family say that Louis has been loving the attention.

Charlotte said: "He was on the front of a local paper last week and we have it at home and whenever anyone comes over to the house, he points it out to them."

In March, Wrexham Police FC - which consists of North Wales Police officers playing off duty - are taking part in a charity football match to raise money for Louis.

The family believe the match has publicised the cause and could be how Reynolds found out about the fundraiser.

"I think it really was because of them that Ryan and Rob got involved and it was also so nice to see other celebrities like Nick Knowles leave messages of support," he said.

"By sharing our story, we also hope to show that we are not a unique case.

"There's so many families with either half finished builds or they have not started building at all and they're selling up or having to give up work to care for their disabled children as they cannot access funding."
