Diaz's bail was set at $18,000 (£13,525). He remains in custody and cannot post bail until after a court hearing which was scheduled for Saturday at 9am.

News of the arrest comes in the wake of Nick's younger brother and fellow UFC fighter Nate Diaz, being investigated by the Sacramento Police Department in California, for an alleged assault on Clay Guida during a Combate Americas event held 11 May .

John Fosco, Guida's manager, confirmed the long-time UFC star filed a police report after the incident. It claimed that Diaz allegedly shoved him from behind without warning, sending him crashing into a metal guardrail.
