Sky Sports has dropped five-time world darts champion Eric Bristow after his remarks about footballers who have been sexually abused.

Bristow found himself in a lot of trouble last night for tweeting: "Might be a looney but if some football coach was touching me when I was a kid as I got older I would have went back and sorted that p**f out."

Which he followed with: "Dart players tough guys footballers wimps."

He has since removed the tweets but not before facing an online backlash. He then went on to Tweet:

Bristow, who has an MBE, was working as a darts pundit for Sky Sports, but the company has been quick to distance itself from him since his comments went viral.

A spokesperson for Sky said: "He was a contributor to our darts coverage in the past but we will not be using him in the future."
