Lennox Lewis Claims He Would Come Out Of Retirement To Fight Mike Tyson For $100 Million

Lennox Lewis Claims He Would Come Out Of Retirement To Fight Mike Tyson For $100 Million

Lennox Lewis may have retired back in 2003, but he's not going to shy away from a $100million (£76m) payday anytime soon - even if it means getting back in the ring with Mike Tyson.

Can we blame him? I'd chuck my mum in the ring for that sort of money.

At the ripe old age of 53 Lewis has claimed that a rematch with 52-year-old Tyson wouldn't be off the cards.

In an interview on the Joe Rogan Podcast, the former three-time world heavyweight champion said: "Well you know, I told people that I'd take my pyjamas off for a 100 mill (£76m). So if you're serious - come with it baby, show me the paper."

He went on to reminisce about his penultimate fight with Iron Mike back in 2002 where he defeated his counterpart in an eighth-round knock out.

Lewis added: "I looked at Tyson's history, he's coming from the same history that I'm coming from and he spent some time in incarceration.

"While he was in incarceration I'm still out there fighting and training hard, he didn't have that in there so when he came out it was like training again doing what he knows not what he loves, that's going to make him some money - that's going to put some food on the table.

"I look at old time fighters and say, what made them stay in boxing so long, that's the only thing they knew.

"They're not going to be no singer or dancer or whatever they only know boxing and this is where they get their money from so that's what forces them back into the ring."

People have been pretty excited about the possibility of a rematch for the pair - one person said: "Would be a car crash but probably better than Mayweather v Pacquiao".

Another responded: "I'd probably still watch it. As in, definitely."

And a third commented: "Make this happen! Fight of the century right there".

Back on June 8 2002, when the pair last went head to head, they were both guaranteed $17.5million (£13.3m).

Lewis' next and final fight was against Vitali Klitschko in June 2003, where he was victorious. Tyson followed suit in retiring three fights and two years later in 2005.
