Antoine Griezmann has found himself at the centre of a racism storm tonight after posting a picture of himself in a controversial fancy dress outfit.

The Atletico Madrid and France forward took to Twitter to share his outfit of choice for an '80s themed party he was attending, only to reveal that he had not only opted for black face, but to paint his entire body black as well and top it off with an afro wig in an attempt to look like an NBA player.

Naturally, the outfit choice instantly generated a ton of backlash on social media.

Seriously, what was he thinking doing this?

Piers Morgan also tweeted about the footballer, calling him an 'imbecile':

Following the backlash, Griezmann has posted a tweet saying that the outfit was a tribute.

He has since deleted the post and tweeted apologising for any offence caused. The message translates as: "I agree that it's awkward for me. If I hurt some people excuse me."
