Sir Alex Ferguson Rushed To Hospital For 'Emergency' Treatment

Sir Alex Ferguson was rushed to hospital this morning to receive 'emergency surgery', the Sun reports.

An ambulance was reportedly called to his Cheshire home at 9am today, before he was taken to Macclesfield District Hospital. He was then transferred to Salford Royal Hospital with a police escort.

The former Manchester United boss is now in intensive care.

A Manchester United spokesman explained that Ferguson required emergency treatment for a brain haemorrhage, but added that the procedure had gone 'very well.

The spokeman said: "Sir Alex Ferguson has undergone emergency surgery today for a brain haemorrhage.

"The procedure has gone very well but he needs a period of intensive care to optimise his recovery. His family request privacy in this matter."
