Google Maps Conspiracy Theorists Think That Martians Came To Japan Centuries Ago

Google Maps and Google Mars – which is like Google Maps but on Mars – show similar structures on both planets. Illuminati confirmed

One of the most fun things about the Internet is that it is completely awash with absolute batshittery, with all kinds of conspiracy theories out there to get stuck into.

Did you know - for example - that Paul McCartney died in 1966 and was replaced by a lookalike? OK, that one is a pre-Internet thing, but there is a modern adaptation that says that Avril Lavigne also died and was replaced by a clone called Melissa.

See, conspiracy theories are great. The weirder they are the better.

Google Maps is basically ground zero for people who think they have discovered alien life, a secret USA spy plane, or evidence of some kind of illuminati conspiracy.

Let's just return to the search for alien life for a minute, as some conspiracy hunters have discovered bizarre similarities between a site in Japan and a site on Mars, which they believe proves once and for all that aliens are among us on our planet, and have been for centuries.

A bit of background, first: as well as Google Maps, and Google Earth (the desktop site where you can view satellite images of every observable point on earth, almost) Google have also released Google Mars.

Google Mars allows users to peruse the surface of the Red Planet at their convenience, and zoom in on the surface of the planet using similar satellite images to those used on Google Earth and Maps.

Well, Lord only knows how they discovered this, but they've found something on the surface of Mars that bears a more than passing resemblance to a structure here on Planet Earth.

If you search for the coordinates 36°07'45.6"N 139°28'53.0"E on Google Maps or Earth you will see a large keyhole-shaped structure.

This is the Inariyama Kofun (tomb) in Saitama Prefecture, Japan. It's a site of great historical interest in Japan, but it could be of interplanetary significance if the conspiracy theorists are to be believed.

Yes, you've guessed it. On Google Mars there is a thing that looks strikingly similar to the tomb in Japan. This, of course, is conclusive proof that aliens came to Japan centuries ago from Mars.

The co-ordinates to input into Google Mars for the thing - whatever it is - are 6° 3'57.07"N 92° 4'13.22"E.

However, if you go there now and search for it, you'll get a message saying that no results can be found for those coordinates.

There you have it - what else are they hiding from us?
