Dad's Horror As Kid Sees 'Lay Matures' Adult Content On A McDonald’s Games Machine

It can be difficult to occupy kids when you’re out and about, but this is ridiculous.

A dad was left appalled when his son started seeing adverts for a hook-up website on a tablet computer he was playing on at McDonald's.

Usually if that happened he would only have himself to blame, but the tablet was one that is owned by McDonald's and left there for kids to play with.

Paul Hodder had taken his three year old son Dylan to the Cribbs Causeway branch of McDonald's near Bristol on Saturday evening; as Dylan started playing on the device an advert for the website 'Lay Matures' popped up, featuring an older women in a revealing pose in a short black dress.

Paul laughed it off at first, but after it kept appearing he took it to the store manager, who changed the settings.

This failed to stop the problem and more and more adverts kept popping up.

It's fair to say Paul was not 'lovin' it' - he said: "Dylan's been off his food as he's been a bit poorly with chicken pox so we decided to go to McDonald's.

"I had a bit of a giggle when the first smutty ad turned up on the screen, but then as a parent I was thinking, 'Why is this coming up?'

"Dylan looked confused when it popped up, pointed at the screen and said, 'What's that lady doing?' before closing it down to get back to the game.

"It's unacceptable. Who knows how many other children might have seen this?

"When I saw the second ad pop up, the advert with the woman on the handrail pressed up against the knob, I was pretty disgusted.

"The second time it happened I took a picture of it and showed the manager, the young lad was very apologetic, changed the settings on the tablet and said it should be fine but then it happened again.

"My main concern is that children would see this inappropriate content and their parents would end up putting themselves in an awkward position having to explain what it is."

A spokesperson from McDonald's restaurants said: "We are looking into what could have happened as a matter of urgency and offer a sincere apology to the customer regarding this incident.

"We take every step to ensure the content accessed via our Wi-Fi and on our tablet devices is family friendly.

"These steps include blocking media transfer and screen sharing sites, preventing downloads and denying access to proxy sites as well as industry-leading safeguards and stringent filters within the approved content and apps on the tablets, which is all supported by our internet provider O2.
