A 'Friends' Cafe Is Coming To Primark In Manchester

Could you BE any more excited?

Most of us would admit feeling jealous of the characters in Friends at some point in our lives. Sometimes we might feel jealous because they live in New York, or because they're good looking... or because they're just such darn good friends.

But the main reason I for one feel jealous of the characters in Friends is because they seem to work around three hours a week at work and the rest of the time relaxing their tits off down the cafe.

Well, good news if you live in Manchester - a Friends-themed cafe is opening down the Primark mega store in Market Street. The bad news though is that you will have to carry on working more than three hours a week.

The Central Perk Café is being opened to in partnership with Warner Bros. to celebrate 25 years since the show first hit our screens.

The cafe will be complete with Big Apple-themed drinks and massive coffee cups, as well as limited edition branded products available for purchase. The cafe will also have a focus on sustainability, using compostable cups and ethically sourced coffee beans.

Tim Kelly, Primark's director of new business development, said: "We are hugely excited to be bringing the first branded Central Perk Café in fashion retail in the UK to the British high street.

"Customers can relax and have fun there whilst also enjoying our amazing fashion at amazing prices in our Manchester store."

The cafe will be there for you from Wednesday 12 June, so get down early to lay claim to the best seats which, if the show is anything to go by, will then be yours forevermore.

This could be you... except you'll still be less good looking and still have to work more than three hours a week.

If you can't get up to Manchester to relax in the cafe, then just watching the show could help to soothe you.

The sitcom can apparently be particularly for comforting for people experiencing anxiety, according to clinical psychologist Marc Hekster.

Speaking to the Metro, he said: "Having worked for over a period of 20 years with those experiencing anxiety, I can conclude that among other factors, it is the repetitive and relational nature of programs such as Friends and Big Bang Theory that will be doing the trick.

"[Watching Friends] is about an experience of repair, of watching the characters in the show repeatedly having worries, which then get repaired and soothed, usually in the context of other relationships in their lives.

"Complex problems are made the focus of each episode, and then they are resolved within the relationships which are the essence of the shows. It is pure escapism - excellent, bring it on."
