A House From Hit Show 'McMafia With James Norton Is Now On Sale For £2.5m

The house that was shown in the BBC’s hit drama series is so pricey you’d have to be an international gangster to afford it.

A house that was used in the filming of the hit BBC drama McMafia has been placed on the market for a massive £2.5 million ($3.4m).

Meaning that one lucky fan of the show, who also happens to have a lot of disposable cash, can get their hands on a piece of it.

Mews are homes that used to be servants quarters, stables or garages, and in McMafia, Alex Godman lives on one such cobbled street in South Kensington.

The house for sale was used for the outside of Alex's house, although the inside was a larger house in Wandsworth, elsewhere in London.

This house is still nice though. It's got three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and is slightly bigger than an average house (but, for my £2.5m I'd want it to be a LOT bigger).

It's right in the middle of Kensington, so it's in a pretty posh part of London and has been finished to a really high-standard inside.

James Robinson, general manager of Lurot Brand, the estate agents that are selling the house, said: "Cranley is a lovely mews and there has been a lot of interest in mews homes in South Kensington since McMafia started this year.

"It is a bit like when Layer Cake was released. Daniel Craig's character lived on Queens Gate Mews and there was so much interest on the back of it.

"Mews houses have always been places where naughty things have happened. There is always something interesting going on. The Profumo Affair was on a mews.

"In McMafia they say he lives in a normal house, but Cranley Mews has always been a considered, desirable mews.

"This three bedroom home is a stunning example of a mews and in a great location. It is finished with style and a layout that makes this property both practical and beautiful. It is deeper than most mews homes and is open plan with an industrial feel."

The house is very stylish.

Mr Robinson added: "A lot people have a mews as a second home.

"Musicians and actors and actresses love them because they are discreet and don't have communal areas like apartments. They can lock up and leave.

"Fathers buy them for their daughters because they are safe, newly married couples live in them for a couple of years before starting a family and if you're a man about town it's much cooler to say you live in a mews than a flat.

The show has a bit of truth to it apparently, as Mr Robinson once also sold one to a McMafia-style Russian 'gentleman'.

"I once sold a house to a Russian gentleman. He didn't speak English and went everywhere with two bodyguards.

"He bought the mews next to one he owned, in cash, because he didn't want a next-door neighbour.

"They're good investments because they are always desirable and they aren't building any more. We get mews collectors - people who own four, five or six of them."

We'll probably never know if that Russian gentleman got butchered with a caviar knife or not.

Oh well.
