A binman appeared to throw himself in front of a car to in what appears to be an attempt to fake an injury for compensation.

Fortunately for the driver, another road user captured the man's blatant dive on his dashcam.

In the clip, shot in Teversham, Cambridgeshire, the binman can be seen launching himself onto the bonnet of the Audi before falling to the ground as though he was in agony.

His colleague then appears to confront the diver, chauffeur Wayne Nightingale, before he grabs onto the side of the car to try and stop Wayne from leaving.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, Wayne said: "I was waiting behind the lorry while the men emptied the bins into it, I was in no rush but when the lorry drove off one of the men stood in front of my car and started saying something and pointing at the CCTV sign on the back of the lorry.

"As he stood there, I decided to go around him and that's when he came towards my car and pretended that I hit him. But I knew I'd never touched him.

"The driver in front told me that he had the scene on video and we arranged for him to give it to me later on in the evening."

The incident was caught was on a dashcam.

Thankfully, the driver who recorded the footage handed it over and the Greater Cambridge Shared Waste service was able to fully investigate.

A spokesperson from the company told the Daily Mail the employee in the clip no longer works for service.

The spokesperson said the case had been 'thoroughly investigated', adding: "We kept the resident who informed us about this updated and appreciate them bringing this to our attention."

Wayne says he received a letter from the council's refuse department and one from the police about the incident before he was able to share the footage to show that the man hadn't been injured.

Wayne continued: "I cannot stress enough how lucky I was that the other driver had a dashcam, as a chauffeur, if I had lost my license I would have lost my job which was a very scary thought."
