Look, I'm not here to ruin your Friday-buzz, but this story is seriously sad, OK? You've been warned.

Jack, a little Yorkshire Terrier who was believed to be Britain's oldest dog, has died after being savaged by another dog on Tuesday.

Jack was out for a walk at Hartlepool Marina when he was attacked and an appeal was launched by police for information on the attack. This has led to a 44-year-old man being summoned to court for being the 'owner/person in charge of a dog dangerously out of control'.

Jack's owners, Ray and Mary Bunn, are devastated at the loss of their little furry friend, who they have owned for 16 years, after they rescued him from previous owners who had kept him tied to a tree. Living with Ray and Mary, Jack developed expensive tastes and enjoyed nothing more than a sirloin steak, according to his owners.

Ray Bunn told the Gazette Live: "He was brilliant, very intelligent. If he wanted his tea he would tell you. If he wanted taking out, he would tell you. He was a marvellous dog. He was a character, everybody loved him."

I'm welling up here, this is too sad.

Rest in peace, Jack, mate.
