Ant McPartlin has filed for divorce from his wife of 11 years Lisa Armstrong.

Ant had been in a relationship with the makeup artist for 23 years, they married in 2006, but the couple are said to have been under severe strain following Ant's stint in rehab for drug addiction last summer.

A spokesperson for Ant told the Mirror: "In response to the recent speculation in the media, Ant is very sad to announce that, after 11 years, he is ending his marriage to Lisa McPartlin.

"Ant asks for privacy at this difficult time, for both himself, Lisa and their immediate families.

"No further statement will be made."

According to the Sun, the decision to end the relationship was made by Ant after a series of face-to-face meetings with his wife.

A source told the paper: "This was a tough decision for Ant but he has to do the right thing for his health.

"It hasn't happened overnight. They've been having problems for ages.

"The marriage has effectively been struggling for eight months. He's given it a good go.

"They've met up and spoken about it a number of times and this is the decision he has made.

"They are getting divorced. He is obviously really upset about it."

The source added that Ant wants it to be 'amicable and friendly'.

The 42-year-old I'm A Celebrity presenter has overhauled his life since going into rehab last June, where he underwent treatment for an addiction to prescription drugs and alcohol.

He left in August, but is believed to have not reunited with his wife, and has since been living in a rented property.

A source reportedly said: "Lisa has struggled to accept that this is the end of the road. She thought at first that talking things through might help them resolve things.

"But she is gradually realising that as far as he is concerned, there's no way back."

Speaking at the time, Ant told the Sun: "This kind of stuff puts strains on any marriage.

"But we're good. She's been fantastic throughout rehab. Very supportive.

"And time will tell. It's very personal isn't it."
