Essex Accent Voted Sexiest In UK

Meanwhile Brummie came in last place

It's good news for Gemma Collins, because the Essex accent has been voted the sexiest in the UK.

Yup, according to a poll by Big 7 Travel, the accent is considered more desirable than any other in the whole of the United Kingdom. I wonder if this was boosted in any way after Chris Pratt did his best Essex impression recently?

The Northern Irish accent came in second place, following by Glaswegian and Queen's English (or generic posh) in fourth.

Northern Irish was voted second sexiest accent. I'm sure Jamie Dornan is happy about that.

Manchester just beat its neighbours, with Mancunian and Scouse picking up fifth and sixth place respectively; something new for them to argue about, no doubt.

In seventh place (and clearly robbed) was Geordie, followed by the very lovely Welsh Valleys, Yorkshire and finally Cockney - as a northerner, I can't actually tell the difference between an Essex accent and a Cockney one, to be fair.

Yorkshire accents, as heard on Bradford's Kimberly Walsh, were voted ninth place.

Now on to the other end of the scale, the poll found that the Brummie accent was the least sexy, coming in 50th place. Harsh.

In the 49th spot is the Gloucestershire accent, with Hull City taking 48th place, the West County at 47, Wolverhampton at 46 and Bristolian at 45th.

But don't feel too bad if you're a Brummie or a Bristolian, because according to a different poll from the same company, not a single English accent made it into the top 10 sexiest accents globally. Wounded.

The poll found that the Kiwi accent was the sexiest, describing it as 'outrageously charming' - or 'utrageously charmin' as they would say.

In second place was South African, followed by Irish. Italian came fourth, then Australian, which is just a sort-of high-energy Kiwi, if you ask me.

Scotland came in a respectable sixth place, French was seventh, Spanish took the eighth spot, followed by Texan and then Brazilian Portuguese.

What do you guys reckon? Think this UK and global ranking is about right or miles off?
