Harry and Meghan have made their first appearance with their new son, who was born on Monday 6 May at 5.26am, weighing 7lb 3oz.

The unnamed boy is the Earl of Dumbarton, and is currently being nicknamed 'Baby Sussex'.

The baby boy was born on 5 May.

Harry and Meghan walked out with the child, who was wrapped up in a white shawl.

Meghan said: "He has the sweetest temperament, he's really calm. He's been the dream."

Harry joked: "I don't know who he gets that from."

The couple were asked how their first few days as parents had been, to which Meghan responded: "It's magic, it's pretty amazing.

"I have the two best guys in the world so I'm really happy."

Harry then added: "It's great. Parenting is amazing.

"It's only been two and a half days, three days, but we're just so thrilled to have our own little bundle of joy."

So which parent does the baby boy resemble the most? It's pretty hard to see for sure while he's all wrapped up in that blanket.

"Everyone says that babies change so much over two weeks," Harry said.

"We're basically monitoring how the changing process happens over this next month really. But his looks are changing every single day, so who knows."

The new arrival is the Queen's eighth great-grandchild.

The baby is seventh in line to the throne, behind the Prince of Wales, the Duke of Cambridge and his children - Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis - and the Duke of Sussex.

Following his arrival, a statement from Buckingham Palace said Harry had been present for the birth, adding: "The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Lady Jane Fellowes, Lady Sarah McCorquodale and Earl Spencer have been informed and are delighted with the news.

"The Duchess's mother, Doria Ragland, who is overjoyed by the arrival of her first grandchild, is with Their Royal Highnesses at Frogmore Cottage.

"Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well."

The bookies' favourites, as of 8 May.
OddsChecker

Harry and Meghan have not yet announced their son's name, but bookies' favourites included Alexander, Spencer, Arthur, James and Philip, with Oddschecker spokesperson George Elek saying: "It comes as something of a surprise to see the traditional names such as Alexander and James being amongst the favourites given the speculation that they will choose something 'unusual'.

"Spencer therefore seems more in line, whilst paying tribute to Prince Harry's late mother."

Jessica Bridge from Ladbrokes also told LADbible last year: "Given this child will be in line to the throne, it's probably a safe assumption that the couple will opt for a regal name that has been used in the royal family over the generations.

She added: "However, with Meghan's USA roots it would be remiss of bookmakers to rule out an American moniker featuring somewhere."
