A mum who struggled to conceive a baby has given birth to her first born, with huge thanks going to late singer George Michael.

Lynette Gillard spent 13 years trying to become a mother, but fertility problems stopped her from doing so. She even went on Deal or No Deal in 2008 to try and win the money to get In vitro fertilisation (IVF) treatment, which Michael happened to be watching.

The singer was moved by Lynette's story and subsequently tracked her down through Channel 4 bosses, before donating her £9,000 so she could get the treatment she needed, the Mirror reports.

Now, nine months after George's death, Lynette is mother to Seth Logan George Hart, whose middle name is a tribute to the former member of Wham.

"I hope he's looking down smiling, knowing I have what I've always longed for," Lynette said, via the Mirror.

"He believed in me and gave me hope to keep trying even when I felt it was useless."

Lynette found out she was pregnant last year on Christmas day, the same day that the 53-year-old sadly passed away. She also listened to one of his songs while she was in labour, another thing that helped her give birth.

Michael gave £9,000 to Lynette on the condition that he'd remain anonymous throughout his life, the Mirror reports. She went through nine rounds of IVF in total, before she and her partner Nathan Hart gave it one last try, but they found out they were expecting just before she started the final treatment.

"I'm sure when he grows up Seth will look up to George as an inspiration," Lynette said.

Following his death, numerous stories of George Michael's low-key generosity have been told and it seems the pop legend carried out numerous quiet acts of kindness throughout his life.

It has now emerged that George worked at a homeless shelter but chose to keep his identity a secret, according to social media.

"George Michael worked anonymously at a homeless shelter I was volunteering at. I've never told anyone, he asked we didn't. That's who he was," Emilyne Mondo, an activist, wrote on Twitter.

Mondo said she believes George chose to stay discreet for fear of intrusion from the press.

"Would like to respond to the unexpected interest in the tweet about an experience with a kind man, who happened to be a musical icon," she said.

"It is my belief that the reason for anonymity was to avoid press intrusion. This obviously can't happen now.

"And of course a want and need to help others. As usual there are a lot of stories about the controversy and difficult times he had. The story is a real account of a generous human."
