Prince William Might Not Be Prince Harry’s Best Man Due To Technicality

Prince William Might Not Be Prince Harry’s Best Man Due To Technicality

The Royal Family has a bunch of rules when it comes to weddings and the Best Man and Maid of Honour is included...

There's only six months until Prince Harry and Meghan Markle say their vows, in what will likely be a huge Royal wedding. Plenty of people are speculating about all sorts of things to do with the special day, from what designer will make the American's dress to where Prince Harry will have his stag do.

But one interesting bit of information has emerged about something that nearly every wedding has: a best man and maid of honour.

There's no word who Ms Markle will choose to be next to her for the big day, but many are tipping Prince William to be side-by-side with Harry considering he was bestowed that honour at his wedding in 2011.

However, it's reported that Prince Harry likely won't give his brother the nod due to a technicality.

British and European royalty expert, Marlene Koenig has told Town and Country there is no such thing as a 'best man' at a Royal wedding: "The best man or best men are officially called supporters. William will probably be Harry's supporter."

The Prince of Wales stuck with that rule and named his brother Prince Andrew to be his supporter when he married Diana in 1981.

Interestingly, Prince William broke protocol in 2011 and actually named Harry as his best man and Clarence House confirmed the decision. The Daily Mail reported that Harry joked he would refuse to participate in anything to do with wedding unless he was awarded the title.

However, it's unclear whether Prince Harry will stick to the rules on this one or go down his older brother's route.

While the Duke of Cambridge was delighted for Harry's engagement announcement, he was happy for a very specific reason, telling an ITV reporter: "I'm very excited. Delighted for them both. Wishing them all the happiness in this exciting time.

"And for me personally, I hope it means he stays out of my fridge and will stop him scrounging my food which he's done for the last few years."

William's wife Kate added: "William and I are absolutely thrilled. It's such exciting news. It's a really happy time for any couple and we wish them all the best and hope they enjoy this happy moment."

Until then, most people are excited to hear about the plans for his stag do, which could be a very raucous affair.

There have been offers from Australia and Scotland to host the event, however sprinter Usain Bolt looks like he has the most attractive offer at the moment, proposing not one, not two but three parties.
