It's not looking good for Katie Hopkins. She's had to file for an individual voluntary agreement (IVA) as she stands looking down over the precipice towards bankruptcy.
Basically, she got into a legal battle with the writer and activist Jack Monroe, who took exception to a tweet that Hopkins put out back in 2015 - which isn't that difficult given some of the moronic stuff that she comes out with - and decided to get the lawyers involved.
They did, and Hopkins lost. She was ordered to pay Monroe £24,000 for causing 'serious harm' to Monroe's reputation. Oh dear, oh dear.
Now, Monroe has revealed that Hopkins has paid the £24,000. There was also a bill of £107,000 in costs that needed to be paid as well.
Unfortunately for Katie, her lucrative job of sharing her reactionary opinions with a largely disinterested public dried up after she went massively overboard, even making comments about a 'final solution' in the wake of the tragic Manchester Arena attack.
This, coupled with the legal issues, appears to have led her into financial troubles and the sale of her luxury mansion earlier this year.
Meanwhile, Monroe recently tweeted the news about Hopkins' IVA, saying: "I can confirm today that following that landmark libel case, Katie Hopkins has entered into an IVA to avoid bankruptcy. I knew for a while but could not say anything for legal reasons. The arbitrary defender of free speech didn't want anyone to know, ironically..."
Monroe continued: "I have been paid in full, but many of her creditors, including my lawyer, will not be paid what they are owed. For the want of an apology, a house, a job, a column, a radio show, and now financial solvency, were lost. It's all very sad, actually.
"I'm not cruel nor celebrating - that case cost me 18 months of sanity and work, and I think neither of us wanted it to turn out this way. (I can recommend an excellent budget cookery book or three, for getting back on your feet, though)."
All of this bad news. It couldn't really have happened to a nicer person, could it?
The tweet that started all of this said: "@MsJackMonroe scrawled on any memorials recently? Vandalised the memory of those who fought for your freedom. Grandma got any more medals?"
Hilariously, at the time, Jack offered Katie a way out of all this bother. Monroe tweeted back saying that a public apology and a £5,000 donation to a migrant charity would stop the legal teams getting involved.
Naturally, Hopkins declined that offer.
Some folk (who are perhaps a little bit less magnanimous than Jack) have been quick to draw attention to a tweet that Hopkins put out some years back that - shall we say - hasn't aged well.
It read: "The only thing people in debt have in common other than bad money management, is an ability to blame anyone but themselves."

Perhaps she'll spend a bit of time having a little think about that.
