London Bridge was forced to close after a stolen van crashed into a number of cars and a bus earlier today. The man in the stolen car then fell into the River Thames, according to Metropolitan Police.

The man has since been fished out the river and is under arrest. No one has reported to be injured in the incident and police have said it's not terror-related.

The incident is reported to have happened shortly before 8am this morning. Police remain at the scene.

A spokeperson from the Met told the Metro: "Police were called on Saturday, May 5 at around 8am to a report of a theft of a van seen heading in the direction of London Bridge.

"The van collided with a number of vehicles including a bus before the driver made off on foot.

"The driver, a man, fell into the river Thames from London Bridge.

"Local officers, the Marine Policing Unit, the Coastguard and London Ambulance Service attended.

"The man was recovered from the water and is currently being treated at the scene by paramedics and will be taken to hospital. He has been arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

"Officers remain on scene."
