Footage shows a man dragging an 80-year-old man from his home after accusing him of spitting on his car.

In the doorbell camera footage taken on Wednesday in Liverpool, UK, the man can be seen knocking on the door, before saying: "You're spitting on my car."

The pensioner then replies: "No I didn't spit at the car."

The man then says: "I've fucking seen."

The pensioner then claims the man has been parking there all the time, at which point the door-knocker escalates things, appearing to slap at the pensioner's hand, before grabbing him by the back and pushing him towards the vehicle.

As he shepherds the pensioner away from his house, the man says: "You will clean the fucking car, you horrible little bastard."

At this point, the 80-year-old calls for his son Ian to call the police and a woman seems to guide the man away.

His son, Ian Macleod, has since said his dad had been house-sitting for him while he was away and denied that he had spat on the car.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, he said: "I just came back from holiday had a chat with him for about an hour so it could not have been him.

"I went upstairs and I heard banging on the door, I thought 'that's nothing' but the next thing I heard was commotion.

"He eventually left after squaring up to me when I came out. He was quite confrontational.

"As you would be. He was about 6ft 6. The fella was huge. He dragged my Dad like a rag doll. I'm fuming to be honest.

"I've never seen the guy before in my life. He was lying through his teeth."

The pensioner's son Ian said his dad didn't spit on the car.

A spokesman for Merseyside Police said the pensioner was not seriously injured, but was left with a sore on his arm.

He said: "We were called at 5.10pm on Wednesday 22nd May to reports an 80 year-old man had been assaulted in Wellington Street, Waterloo.

"Officers were contacted following reports an unknown male had knocked on the door of a house and accused the occupant of spitting on his car.

"During the confrontation the male grabbed hold of the pensioner's arm. The male then got into his car and drove away.

"The pensioner was not seriously hurt but was left with a sore arm.

"Enquiries are ongoing in the local area. Anyone with information is asked to DM @MerPolCC, call 101 or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111 quoting 19100260674."
