Naming your child is a pretty big responsibility - one false move and you could be setting up your little one for a lifetime's worth of teasing.

One mum has stood her ground, however, and hit back at the trolls who hounded her for her rather unconventional choice of baby name: Disney.

Jade Jeanes and her husband Joshua, both 27, are massive fans of all things Disney and thought having their first child was the best opportunity to share their passion.

But not everyone agreed, and after sharing her unique name to a parenting group on Facebook, she was left heartbroken by the negative backlash she received, with many laughing at her.

Jade, from Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, says she has no regrets but thought people would have seen the fun side of her post rather than leaving her such hurtful comments.

Jade says she didn't regret her choice of name.

She said: "It's just a name, there are ordinary names that people give that I don't like, but I don't tell them that they shouldn't give those names.

"It was more of a fun post that I assumed people would be okay with. In the end, people just either hate it or love it.

"My husband's siblings have young children and they like Disney films so she'll be brought up in a big, happy Disney family.

"She's a bundle of joy to be around."

Undeterred by the online abuse, Disney's parents have decorated the tot's bedroom with silhouettes of Mickey Mouse, and say she is 'transfixed' when they put one of the movies on TV for her.

If they have a boy next, the couple would consider calling him Sonic.

And though Disney has outgrown her Tangled outfit, Jade and Joshua say they plan to buy her more and also hope to visit Disneyland Paris in a few years' time.

Jade said: "We really can't wait to take her to Disney World but since Josh and I both are afraid of flying, we thought we'd start with taking her to France first.

"We'll wait until she turns two, but that can't come around quickly enough."

Jade's love for Disney is nearly rivalled by her love of video games - if she has a boy, she would consider naming him 'Sonic' after the iconic hedgehog computer game.

"I did think about naming her after a video game character," said Jade, a former Game assistant.

"I don't think I've come across any names from video games that were too 'out there'.

"I'd love a son called Sonic."
