One of the tricky things that social media giants like Facebook and Twitter are dealing with is anonymous trolls. While most of us use these sites in the normal way, there are people out there that want it for the sole purpose of spewing utter shit.

Usually, if they're being particularly vile, they'll have no information about themselves in order to, essentially, get away with saying whatever they want. But one sick troll has used the identity of a grandad from Worcestershire to spout racist messages.

In real life, his name is Nigel Addison, a 62-year-old former Labour councillor from Droitwich.

But his face has been used for a Twitter account with the name Barry Stanton, which has posted a series of racist messages.

"When i go to london i want to see BRITISH people speaking ENGLISH, not fucking Somalis speaking hijabi," read one of 'Barry's' viral tweets.

"Just picked up my lad from school. He tells me he was forced to read the korma (sic) in religion class. Bloody outrage," said another.

Nigel says people started to associate him with the Twitter account and every time he asked Twitter to block it, another would appear in minutes.

"Someone out there is using my name and picture to spread racist hate messages," he says. "I'm being called up and contacted from people all over the world asking if I am the real Barry Stanton

"Some of these people are saying they agree with what I'm saying and inviting me out for beers. Others say I'm awful for trying to get Barry Stanton to stop using my picture.

"It was just so overwhelming I could have cried. I was just thinking what the hell is going on?

"I've had total strangers ringing me up and asking if I was this Barry Stanton."

A quick search on the social media site shows there are a few Barry Stanton accounts active at the moment and people are proper upset that the original one was suspended.

As a result of the constant bombardment of messages and fear that something bad might happen to him, Nigel has called the police to investigate who might be behind the account.

The only thing you need to remember is that Nigel is definitely not Barry and the 62-year-old just wants to enjoy his life in peace.

"I just want people to know that I'm nothing like that and it's nothing to do with me," he says.

"What if somebody takes it seriously? What if I was walking down the road and somebody said I was that Barry Stanton and I was the one behind all those racist things. I could be attacked."
