'Heartbeat' Actor Bill Maynard Has Died Aged 89, Family Have Said

Bill Maynard, best known for playing Claud Greengrass in Heartbeat has died aged 89, his family have said.

The actor played the role from 1992 until 2000, when he left the show after suffering a stroke.

His daughter-in-law Jacqueline Reddin, who is also an actress, told the Express: "He was larger than life and he just loved showbiz.

"He was so proud of the fact that he had been working for 81 years.

"He leaves a son and daughter, five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren."
