We've seen all the novelty advent calendars with bottles of craft beer, gin miniatures, beauty products, Lego, sachets of different flavoured teas and pet treats behind the doors. Seems these days, you can get pretty much anything in advent calendar form.

Now the same can be said for wanted offenders, with one London police force releasing - wait for it - a 'Badvent Calendar' via Twitter. And, yup, it's just about as weird as it sounds.

Each tweet in the Lewisham Borough Metropolitan Police Station's so-called 'Badvent Calendar' series follows the same format, ratting on a wanted criminal with their full name, age and offence - many of which are wanted on recall to prison, but others include 'numerous burglaries' and 'robbery and burglary'.

They were a bit behind, though, and didn't actually kick things off until 11 December. Launching straight into it with very little explanation, the force asked the Twitter community: "Who was behind door 1 of @MPSLewisham BADVENT calendar? 1st on the naughty list is Louis RUBY #BURGLAR #Wantedoffender #BADVENT"

They have actually referred to their watch list as the 'naughty list'. It's fucking hilarious and just downright weird all at the same time.

The response has been mixed, with some saying that the idea is 'brilliant', the 'best thing' they'd ever seen and a 'cracker of an idea' (geddit?).

But others have been left slightly baffled by the whole thing.

After door 12 was exposed, Twitter user Andy, said: "This is a shit advent calendar, lads. They're not supposed to all be in numerical order, and what if the person behind #24 does well loads more Lewisham based crimes while you wait for the big reveal? Irresponsible imho".

Another simply wrote: "It's terrifying. Please stop."

Long gone are the days of peeling back the cardboard to find a piece of shit chocolate that's been dodgily shaped into a tiny snowman, eh?
