A terrorist incident in London has left many people suffering from burns and some witnesses have described seeing people with blood around them.

On Friday morning, a homemade device caused an explosion on the London Underground at the Parsons Green tube stop.

Peter Crowley was a passenger on the station and he took photos showing how the explosion singed his hair.

He told the BBC's Victoria Derbyshire programme: "I was on my phone with my face to the side of what I believe is where the explosion took place.

'The fireball singed all my hair,' says Peter Crowley caught up in Parsons Green fire.

"I heard a large bang from the doors on the other side of the tube train and then this fireball above my head has come, singed all my hair. I've got burn marks at the top of my head, and everyone ran off the train. It was quite scary.

"It was a really hot, intense fireball above my head. I've got red marks to the top of my head. There were people a lot worse than me.

"I saw a gentleman. He had what was like a puffer jacket on, and the whole back of that had been burnt where the intense heat had got to it. He had burn marks across his face which were a lot worse than mine.

"[There were] A lot of people in shock, a lot of people physically upset. Mostly it was facial injuries."

The device is reported to have been detonated from inside a bucket, which itself was concealed inside a large supermarket cool bag.

Peter stated that there was nothing unusual about his journey to work on Wandsworth Bridge Road. He said that the train had only been delayed by two minutes in Wimbledon.

He said that the damage could have been a lot worse had the incident happened 24 hours earlier.

"Thankfully, when I travelled to work the day before it was like sardines, where you are packed in. But today it was busy but moveable, not what I consider as busy as it could have been. But it was still busy for that time of day," he added.

Peter described the reaction after the explosion as 'nothing I've ever seen before'. He said: "It was sheer panic. Everyone jumped off the train."

It is the fifth terrorism incident of 2017 where an attack has taken place. A further six have been prevented.

The Parsons Green explosion, at present, is the only one where nobody has died. The previous four attacks saw a total of 36 people tragically killed.

A Metropolitan Police statement regarding the Parsons Green attack read: "Officers from the Met's Counter Terrorism Command are investigating after an incident on a London tube train this morning.

"Police were called at approximately 08:20 BST on Friday, 15 September to Parsons Green Underground Station following reports of a fire on the train.

"Deputy Assistant Commissioner Neil Basu, the senior national coordinator for CT policing, has declared it a terrorist incident.

"Officers from the Metropolitan Police Service and British Transport Police attended the scene, along with colleagues from the London Fire Brigade and London Ambulance Service."
