Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are engaged, Kensington Palace has announced.

Kensington Palace posted a tweet confirming the happy news after days of speculation about a royal wedding.

Harry and Meghan are reported to have met back in July 2016, but managed to keep their relationship secret until November last year.

Rumours about their engagement had been circulating for a few months, and were amped up when it was recently revealed that Meghan had quit Suits, the legal drama she has acted in since 2011.

If all that wasn't enough, the bookies then suspended bets on another royal wedding, which is as good as an official announcement to most.

The couple met when Harry was in Toronto, where Suits is filmed, to launch the Invictus Games and quickly became friends, before eventually beginning a relationship.

They kept everything under wraps, until November last year, when the Palace confirmed their relationship. In the days following, Meghan's life was picked apart in newspapers and across social media, prompting the Prince to make the unprecedented move of releasing a statement pleading with the press to leave her alone.

The pair have since made several appearances, including at the Invictus Games this year, where he even spent time with Meghan's mum.

Meghan is reported to be moving to the UK imminently, and has begun the process to get her two pooches 'doggy passports' to ensure they can move over with her.

When the pair marry, Meghan will gain the title HRH Princess Henry of Wales (because Harry's real name is Henry - mind blow, eh?)

Unless the Queen makes him a Duke upon marriage, in which case she would become a Duchess. Similar to when William and Kate married and became the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

According to Marlene Koenig, a royal historian, it's likely that the Queen will bestow the title of the Duke of Sussex on Harry on his wedding day. Meaning Meghan would be HRH the Duchess of Sussex.

Their happy announcement comes just days after the Queen and Prince Philip celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary on Monday.
