Police Constable James Dixon, who featured on Sky 1's Road Wars, has been killed in a road accident. A 91-year-old woman has also died as a result of the crash.

Dixon was on duty and riding a motorcycle. when it was involved in a collision with a car. The elderly woman was a passenger in the car, and the driver was rushed to hospital. It is not thought that the driver's injuries are life-threatening.

The crash happened on the A4 Bath Road in the village of Wargrave-on-Thames, Berkshire, reports the Mirror, and took place soon after lunchtime.

Dixon was based with Thames Valley Police at their Lodden Valley police station near Reading, but was also known for starring in Sky 1's popular reality TV show Road Wars.

Tributes have been flooding in to the late policeman - and the 91-year-old woman - on Facebook and Twitter:

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said: "As is standard procedure, due to the fact that the incident resulted in the deaths of a member of the public and an on duty police officer Thames Valley Police has made a mandatory referral to the IPCC who have begun an investigation."

IPCC Associate Commissioner Guido Liguori said: "We have been notified by Thames Valley Police of a collision on the A4 near Reading, in which, tragically, a 91-year-old woman and a police officer have died.

"My thoughts and sympathies are with their families and friends and the colleagues of the officer at this very difficult time.

"IPCC investigators are attending the scene as part of an independent investigation to determine the circumstances which lead to the collision."

News website https://policehour.co.uk/ has set up a JustGiving page to raise money to support Dixon's family.

"We are raising money in memory of Police Constable James Dixon who sadly died on Duty on December 5th 2017," the JustGiving page says. "We know this is a difficult time of the year for anyone with Christmas coming but we are hoping to raise some funds to support the family of James Dixon."

It continues to say that funds will also be shared with the family of the 91-year-old victim, who has not yet been named.
